With a press from the drivers union and a news publication a few hours ago, it has been announced that there will be a rise in the amount of fare paid by passengers.
This is reported to take place on the 17th of January 2022. The news is not an all good news for passengers or consumers of this service.
According to joyNews and the official release from the drivers association, the increment will go as high as a 40%.
Speaking today and reacting to the news which has been trending and making waves on the media, people will actually be paying almost close to 10 cedis for certain places in Accra.
Transport is known to be a major role player in the progress and day to day activities of Ghanaians. There has not been a single day that people have gone without taking vehicles or being transported up and down.
That is too much for an increment in fares, no one is having it easy so drivers should not divert their frustrations to the public with such a huge percentage, Kennedy said.
Kennedy Agyapong whiles making these points on oman fm suggested that the percentage should be slashed or considered since it is a way of trying to cope with the current economic situations.
He also revealed that transportation is not as expensive in certain developed countries where he has experienced a life there before.
Indeed, this issue which has suddenly become the concern of almost all Ghanaians today seems to be the worry of many.
People’s transportation budgets for the year 2022 are going to skyrocket and this is as a result of not only the rise in the percentage given to fares but also the oil prices on the market.
Oil price keeps on increasing and fuels are now being managed to the last drop. We hope for a possible turn around since this seems to be a headache to many people at the moment.
