Life is very precious and as such humans put in much efforts to safeguard their lives. It becomes disturbing when a person loses his or her life on grounds that the individual did not have enough funds to pay for fuel for ambulance which is to transport him or her to another health facility for treatment. To prevent an unfortunate incident such as the one stated above from occurring in the North Tongu Constituency, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has established the Ambulance Service Fund.
The MP donated some cash to the management of the North Tongu Office of the National Ambulance Service for the purpose of creating the fund. The MP in a Facebook post explained that the Fund will cater for the vulnerable patients within the constituency who cannot afford the cost of referral outside Volta Region.
Patients who find themselves in North Tongu Constituency are expected to pay GH¢ 385 if they are referred to a health facility outside Volta Region and the services of an ambulance would be required. This cost has now off the shoulders of the vulnerable. Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa added that the Fund shall operate as a revolving fund which shall be replenished constantly by the MP’s office with support from other benevolent people and organizations.
