WR: Deadly Accident At Mpintsin Leaves Two In Terrible Injuries

A taxi driver and his passenger onboard a KIA Picanto with registration number WR 1604 18 were knocked out of consciousness after colliding with another taxi (Opel) with registration number NR 3584 V at the Mpintsin junction via Kojokrom Highway. The accident which occured in the early morning during church hours left the two occupants of the KIA Picanto badly injured.

They have been rushed to the Effia Nkwanta Accident and Trauma Centre for emergency care. The impact from the collision left the driver-side of the KIA Picanto dented and the windshield the rear glass shattered. 

Both passengers were pulled out of the car and it was observed that none were in a seat belt. Per some observation they might have suffered some concussion given that blood stains were spotted on the dashboard of the car. 

The driver and the passengers onboard the Opel taxi were unharmed. However the driver-side of the Opel taxi was crushed. 

For close to thirty minutes the junction was filled with traffic due to the obstruction from the accident scene. Later, a towering truck from the Motor Transport and Traffic Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service came to move the two vehicles from the junction. 

Eyewitnesses’ account reveals that the driver of the KIA Picanto cab was speeding and failed to slow down at the signal by the Opel taxi to make a turn. But for the experience of the Opel taxi driver there could have been some casualties, an eyewitness said. 

In the meantime, the Police is conducting its investigation into the accident. Nothing has been shared by the security agency in respect of this accident. 

The two injured persons are also responding to treatment but the loss resulting from the damages await them. Unless the vehicles are insured, the driver who is said to have caused this accident will have to foot the bill for repairs.
