Today January 9, 2022 kick starts the 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
The tournament, which kicks off in the Cameroonian’s capital of Yaounde, will see 24 teams in action; the Seven (7) times champions… the Pharaohs of Egypt, the defending champion Algeria and the host nation Cameroon.
The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon crashed their West African side Burkina Faso 2: 1Â in the Group ‘A’ opening game, played in the Cameroonian’s capital Yaounde.

The tournament was originally scheduled to be played in June and July 2021, but the the Confederation of African Football (CAF), announced on 15 January 2020, that due to unfavorable climatic conditions during this period, the tournament was pushed to 9 January to 6 February 2022.
