Veteran actor and broadcaster, Amankwah Ampofo has spoken out concerning how some veteran actors and musicians are being treated in the country. Whenever an old actor or musician resurfaces, it is mostly to beg for funds to support his or her livelihood or through sickness.
He mentioned that due to this whenever an old actor or musician call upon people in high places, they are not given attention because they think it is to beg. Amankwah Ampofo shared an incident when he once called a worker from GBC whom he had taught and helped in the industry.
He said several times, this person refused to answer his call until he called with a different number. He said he only wanted a piece of information from him but the person thought he was calling for money.
He mentioned that he had suffered from a Stroke recently but he has been able to cater for himself because he planned well when he was young. He insisted that not all veteran actors and musicians are poor, sometimes their call is just to help other than money.Â
