Man, 28, loses his left eye over a car fight

A Toyota Vitz hatchback vehicle has landed Bernard Wiredu with a deformed face after his younger brother used his ring to hit him in the eye. Kelvin Gyimah Wiredu, the younger brother to Bernard Kojo Wiredu, used his left hand which had his wedded ring on and struck his brother’s face with a heavy blow.

Bernard fell to his knees, and bleed for eighteen minutes before he was taken to the Juaso Government Hospital on Saturday morning. Speaking on the issue, Surgeon Oforiwaa Berlinda, the medical in charge of Bernard’s situation, narrated that, Bernard has completely lost his eyes and it can never be used again.

We tried all we could to have him his eye, but the damage was beyond human control as the eyes had been dead before he arrived at the hospital. We did lots of flashing in the eye but nothing proved successfully for us. The only way out was to take off the left eye to prevent causing further injuries, Dr Oforiwaa Berlinda explained to the Bernard’s family this morning before taking off the eye.

Mr Alexander Ohene-Wiredu, the father of Bernard and Kelvin had tried to save Kelvin from been arrested but all his ploys went unsuccessful as the health administrator at Juaso Government Hospital, filed a police complaint to the police after Bernard had been released from the theatre this afternoon.

Kelvin Gyimah Wiredu, 23, had damaged his brother’s eye all because of a car, a Toyota Vitz vehicle. The vehicle which arrived in Ghana on 22 November 2021, was cleared on 3 January 2022. It was during the clearance of the car, the two brothers found out they would have to share the car their aunty sent from Japan.

Kelvin proposed the car be sold and the money split but Bernard been the elder brother denied the proposal that, since he was the elder brother, he must be allowed to use the car for his works whiles Kelvin waits for another car. This brought confusion between the two brothers until this morning when Kelvin prevented his brother from taking the car out.

Kelvin had brought buyers to buy the car and share the money, but Bernard lost his temper and gave Kelvin the first knock. Kelvin in return for the knock his brother had given him, used his left hand, and with a heavy blow, hit his brother in the face.

Unfortunately for Kelvin, his wedded ring crash the eyes of his brother. Bernard has not made a statement as of now, but Kelvin, the offender has been arrested by the Juaso Police after the Juaso Government Hospital administrator made a complaint at the police station this afternoon.
