The story of illegal migration has been an issue of global interest and over the decades it seems people are not willing to give up their dream of being in Europe, no matter the means it takes to get there. There has been horrible stories told by various people on their experience when they embarked on this journey. In this Article we are going to look at the story of a man living in Italy, his story and how he made it through the Libyan desert by foot, and continued his journey to Italy by the Mediterranean Sea.
According to him, the whole Journey starts from Niger where they have people who transport them through the Niger Desert to Libya. Money is paid to these people called connection men, and they arrange the journey on their behalf with the car owners. He stated that they are packed into pick-up cars without getting the freedom to even turn their neck. He stated that Once you fall from car that will be your end, there is no way the Driver is going to stop the car to come for you.
According to him, when they got to a point the Drivers told them they had developed a fault on the car so they should get down and wait for them to return with another car. He stated that, that was the end, the car never returned and they had to continue the journey by foot, with map illustrations given to them by the connection men. He narrated that, after hours of walking on the Libyan desert they were attacked by Attacked by Rebels and they took all their monies. The saddest part of it was that, The man narrated how One of them was killed for swallowing his money.
Along the line they run out of water, and people began to drink their urine and even fought over other peoples Urine. In his narration he said at a point the Libyan Immigration soldiers arrested them and took them to a refugee camp. It was there that he met some Ghanaians and they planned to escape from where they have been kept.
After they escaping, they managed to come in contact with some Libyans who transport immigrants to Italy through the Mediterranean Sea. He however joined a Boat and made it to Italy where he lives now.
