‘They pointed a knife at me and demanded my car keys’ – Three arrested after a failed robbery

From left, Isale Victor, Ahmed Sawa and Mohammed Azzi were left puzzled on how a single man was able to kick all of them within five minutes. Isale, 37, forced himself on the Suame highway at 11 PM yesterday, forcing the driver of an Audi sedan vehicle to stop. 

The driver Samuel Ayingya, 33, was driving from Suame to Sofoline, where he lives when the three armed men forced him to stop. Isale in an attempt to block the road faked a collapse scene, which forced Samuel to stop in the middle of the highway.

Samuel had moved out of his car to attend to Isale when two men from nowhere entered his car. The two men; Ahmed Sawa and Mohammed Azzi had tried to steal Samuel’s car while he was attending to Isale Victor on the road after Isale had forced a fake collapse scene.

Samuel as a security man, switched off his engine and took the keys with him before attending to Isale on the middle of the road when Azzi and Ahmed entered his car to steal it. Aziz after realizing the keys to the car wasn’t in the car, alerted Isale who pointed a machete to Samuel to demand the keys. 

Samuel without fear disarmed Isale and took his weapon. Ahmed Sawa and Mohammed Azzi who came to fight Samuel after Samuel had disarmed Isale, were also defeated by Samuel before a police patrol vehicle was dispatched from the Suame Police to the crime scene at midnight. 

The three men had planned on robbing Samuel Ayingya but little did they know he was a policeman with combat experience. Samuel in five minutes was able to defeat all three armed robbers before handcuffing them together. 

Samuel in his statement narrated that, if not for his skills in combat training, the three armed men would have defeated him and taken the car away. With the experience as a serviceman, I was able to disarm all three before arresting them. 

They could have even murdered me before taking the car away because, they became pissed when they found out the keys were not in the car but was with me. They pointed a knife at me and demanded my car keys while I was attending to Isale Victor in the middle of the road. I thought he had been injured, but I had no knowledge I was been caged into a robbery, Samuel said in his statement. 

All three men have been caged at the Suame Police station as investigations is ongoing.
