Jeans can be worn almost anywhere in today’s globe. It’s what you wear out to dinner, on the airplane, and even to work. It’s just part of the modern man’s everyday uniform, and as long as the jeans are well-cut and well-washed, it’s great.
However, there are times when wearing denim is either too casual or simply impractical, and you must draw the line. Remember, one of the tenets of having outstanding style is knowing when to break the norms and when to follow them.
Men, checkout these 6 occasions when wearing jeans is totally inappropriate:
1. At your friend’s wedding
You should never wear jeans to a wedding, regardless of how rustic it is. Even if they’re dark and trimmed slim. And don’t be the guy who puts them on the moment the ceremony is over. It is not important for you to be at ease on this day.
2. On a job interview
This is a no-brainer if your industry is corporate, but we’d extend this rule to even the most informal areas. For the one hour of your life that could change your life totally, a nice pair of black trousers is a far better, more professional decision.
3. At a baptism or bris
Even if you worship your beloved selvedge jeans, a religious event is not the place for them. If you don’t want to wear a suit, a pair of slacks and a pair of hard-soled shoes would suffice. But why not dress up in a suit? In a suit, you look fantastic.
4. On the slopes
Athletic activities necessitate athletic clothing for reasons of safety, comfort, and vanity. If you lose your bags or are asked on an impromptu trip, head to a sports goods store and slap down the plastic. Remember, you have the plastic for a reason.
5. At a cocktail-attire event
There’s no getting past an appropriate dress code, no matter how great your shirt and shoes are. sartorial expectation isn’t stated on the invitation but you anticipate the event will be formal (the location will usually give you a heads up), ask the host what to expect so you aren’t the only one wearing jeans.
6. To the theater
Although plane travel is no longer the genteel experience it once was, we’re hoping that the acceptable dress for a Broadway musical doesn’t include a personal bed pillow and PJ bottoms someday.
Avoid wearing jeans for the night out out of respect for the venue, the actors, and the ticket price. This rule will be broken by others, but you’re aware of it.
