Communication officers of the governing New Patriotic Party are being told to start firing on all cylinders to neutralize the propaganda, deliberate twist of facts and cheap lies being pushed by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Alhaji Gibrine Tanko, a leading member of the party in the Agona West constituency of the Central Region, said they should not allow their political opponents in the NDC to get away with the political mischief but must hold them to a strict proof, things that they carelessly throw in there to confuse and deceive people.
There needed to be some level of integrity in “our politics”, the lies and deception would have to stop.
Alhaji Gibrine Tanko, who was a former constituency vice chairman of the party, was presenting mobile phones, cash and other items to the party’s communicators at a ceremony to fire them up to tell the success story of the government.
The government, he said, had done a good job, adding that, its’ signature interventions are making a difference in the lives of many a Ghanaian.
He reminded the communicators that their job was more involving and tiring and required total commitment.
They should make sure that they are adequately informed and on top of issues, so, as to be able to better explain and help people to understand the thinking behind government’s policies.
Alhaji Gibrine Tanko said this was how to carry the people along.
They should go on radio programmes adequately armed with every relevant information and facts to correct any disinformation.
It should not be about insults, intemperate, inflammatory and vulgar language, no. He said it should rather be a healthy intellectual discourse.
Alhaji Gibrine Tanko applauded the party’s communicators and encouraged them to see their role as critical to achieving the party’s goal of breaking the 8-year jinx.
