The Kikuyu community believe that their God ‘Ngai’ communicates to them via the divine trees.One of the most valued tree that is respected by all is a “Mugumo” tree.The tree has divine powers and the mysteries around it could only be interpreted by strong believers in the community.
Since the colonial period, Mugumo tree would be checked for signs and great prophets and seers in the community such as Mugo wa Kibiru would air out things that came to pass.
Currently, tension is high at Githunguri after a Mugumo tree burns consistently for three days.The Holy tree still has green leaves.Surprisingly, the tree is burning from the top.Members of the community have flocked the social media with different opinions about the mysterious incidence.
Some claim that God is angry with the leaders of the country while others claim that God is angry with the Kikuyu community.Others claim that perhaps somebody did start burning the tree.However, the respectable elders are yet to interpret the correct meaning of the incidence.
