Deepest condolences to the Ashitey family on the passing of Mr. Ishmael Ashitey, who was an ex-Minister of State, former Tema East MP, and NPP regional chairman.
He has served as a Member of Parliament for Tema East on three consecutive occasions from 1996 to 2008.
According to party sources who confirmed that the astute politician, Mr. Ashitey, aged 68, returned from the United States a week ago after seeking medical treatment for an unknown illness.
There were reports Mr. Ashitey was considering contesting for the National Chairmanship position of the NPP when the party elects National Officers later this year
May Hon. Ishmael Ashitey’s soul rests in peace. The country has truly lost a respectful think tank who’s widely hailed for his assertiveness in making developmental policies in his constituency.
The New Patriotic Party will be left with a big emptiness in their leadership for he served with passion and dexterity both for his constituents, party, and country respectively.
He’s a figure that will be surely missed in the constituency and beyond.
Rest well sir
