With just 6 days into the new year 2022, accidents have started hitting parts of he country, with the latest one happening on ‘Black Volta’.
The latest sad news coming from the Bono Region of Ghana has revealed that, two persons have drown in the Black Volta.
According to a police situational report, the two people on Wednesday January 5 2022 ,at around 4pm got drowned, when a boat they were traveling on, caught fire on the Black Volta.
According to the report, the two persons; a young lady and male whose bodies are yet to be identified, had no other options, but to jumped into the Black Volta in an attempted to swim, but unfortunately got drowned in the process.
The boat operator, Holy Siama, narrated that, on reaching the mid-portion of the lake, the outboard motor caught fire, while in motion, and as a result, some of the passengers jumped into the lake; adding that, “after the fire was put out, the two persons could not be traced or rescued.
The passengers, according to the story, were crossing the Black Volta lake, from Bongase to Asuogya in the Banda District of the Bono Region, when the sad incident occurred.
The Black Volta is a river that flows through Burkina Faso for approximately 1,352 km (840 mi) to the White Volta in Dagbon, Ghana, the upper end of Lake Volta.
The source of the Black Volta is in the Cascades Region of Burkina Faso…it is close to Mount Tenakourou, the highest point of the country. Further downstream it forms part of the border between Ghana and Burkina Faso, and later between Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana. Within Ghana, it forms the border between the Savannah and the Bono regions.
