It appears NABCO trainees will continue to raise their voices and express their grief towards the government until their unpaid stipends are settled. Earlier today, on TV3’s “new day” show, three NABCO trainees were invited by the host, Berla Mundi, for a conversation. A lot was said by these young men, but one revelation they made got the attention of many listeners me.
According to the NABCO trainees, their CEO, Dr Ibrahim Anyars, cannot prove that 49,000 trainees have indeed been employed permanently. This point made by the NABCO trainees during the interview got many Ghanaians their fellow trainees, wondering. Ghanaians right now may be asking why the CEO of NABCO, Dr Ibrahim Anyars, cannot prove that 49,000 of his trainees have gained permanent employment.
In the interview, the trainees disclosed the contradiction between their CEO’s number and that of the Finance Minister. Mr Ken Ofori Atta who is the Finance Minister, indicated in the recent national budget that 33,000 beneficiaries have gained permanent employment. Dr Ibrahim Anyars has also indicated that 49,000 NABCO trainees have gained permanent employment.
The NABCO trainees who were interviewed questioned that between the Finance Minister and the CEO of NABCO, who is speaking the truth. The trainees disclosed that the Finance Minister and the CEO of NABCO do not have real evidence to prove the number of NABCO trainees who have been employed permanently.
The trainees, however, praised the significant impact of the NABCO scheme. The crucial point these trainees have made known to the government is that they are going through real hardship. Some NABCO trainees see their months of unpaid stipends as a very big punishment. Most of these people have used every platform available to make their grievances known to the government, but it appears no response is coming from nowhere.
