There were rumors that Ihedioha was about to join the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in order to pursue his governorship ambition in 2023.
Those behind the rumour had insinuated that Ihedioha was not in good terms with the National Secretary of PDP, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, who also hails from the state, hence the decision of the erstwhile governor to leave PDP.
But the state chapter of the PDP, Wednesday, dismissed the rumour as the handiwork of drowning politicians and desperate agents of darkness who are afraid of PDP reclaiming its mandate in 2023.
A statement from the state Publicity Secretary of the party, Mazi Emenike Nmeregini, submitted that Ihedioha is the party’s brand and that his sterling performances within his short stay in office will be the party’s message for 2023 elections.
‘It could encourage jailbreaks’ — Akeredolu condemns soldiers’ withdrawal from Ondo prisons

Akeredolu, in a statement by Richard Olatunde, his chief press secretary, said the move could trigger jailbreaks across the states.
The development comes about two months after the army withdrew troops from checkpoints in Ondo over the alleged failure of the state government to pay their allowances.
The governor had in October asked the police to beef up security around the correctional centres in the state following incidents of jailbreaks in Kogi and Oyo states.
“Last night, Gov. Akeredolu received reports from the Commissioner of Police in the state, Oyediran Oyeyemi, that soldiers attached to the correctional centres in the state have all been withdrawn,” the statement reads.
Two die in attack on Osun prison
The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) has confirmed that two inmates lost their lives at Kosere Custodial Centre, Ile-Ife, on Tuesday, during an attempted jailbreak.

The attempted jailbreak happened while inmates were observing their routine freetime around the prison facility.
On Wednesday, State Controller Amoran Olanrewaju told reporters at the Ile-Ife facility.
According to Mr. Olanrewaju, the inmates turned on the warders and attempted to flee.
He noted that the cause of the inmates’ revolt and attempted jailbreak is yet to be known but explained that security men repelled them from fleeing.
Four inmates were injured in the process and were immediately taken to the hospital while two were confirmed dead, the controller said.
