Prof. Gyampo Fumes At Gov’t’ 7%, 70% Salary Increment For Public Servants And Article 71 Holders

There were strong oppositions to government’s proposed 4% salary increment for public servants. Government swiftly rescinded this decision and rather increased the percentage of salary increment to 7. The new percentage has once again received strong opposition.

Lecturer at the Department of Political Science at University of Ghana, Professor Ransford Gyampo, has expressed his great dissatisfaction for the proposed 7% salary increment for public servants. He believes that there should be some level of equity between in the conditions of service of public servants and Article 71 holders. He made his opinion clear in a Facebook post adding that there would be no industrial harmony if there isn’t equity between the two groups.

The Political Science professor did not understand why the salary of the taxpayer (public servants) is to be increased by a meagre 7% while the caretaker (Article 71 holders) are to enjoy 70% increment. Check below for the post of Prof. Ransford Gyampo:
