Officers of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 14-year-old maid, Iwuozor, for allegedly stealing her boss’ 2-year-old son in Lagos State. Iwuozor stole the 2-year-old boy on December 19, 2021, from a church during Sunday school. After stealing the boy, she had the intention of taking the boy from Lagos to Amaraku Umorsu in the Isiala/Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.

After stealing the boy, Iwuozor wanted to take him to Imo State but she had no transport money. It was in an attempt to raise transport money with the boy that she ran out of luck and was subsequently arrested by the police. In an attempt to raise transport money that will take her from Lagos to Imo State, Iwuozor decided to start begging for money with the boy.
Iwuozor begged for money from passersby in the streets of Lagos. She lied that the boy was her brother and that their parents died in a car accident in 2020. People pitied them and gave them money. However, Iwuozor ran into trouble when a good Samaritan who goes by the name ‘Victoria Nwafor’ saw her and the boy and had pity on them. Victoria Nwafor took both of them to her house and took care of the 2-year-old boy who was sick.

Victoria Nwafor noticed that all was not well when Iwuozor woke up one day and told her that she wanted to go to Imo State with the boy. Victoria Nwafor offered to assist Iwuozor with traveling to Imo State but Iwuozor refused and maintained that she will travel alone with the boy. At this point, Victoria Nwafor reported the case to the nearest police station.
After the case was reported at the police station, the DPO Sagamu division, CSP Okiki Agunbiade, ordered his men to go and bring the girl and the little boy to the police station. When the girl and the boy arrived, the police officers interrogated Iwuozor and she confessed that she stole the boy and she wanted to take the boy to Imo State. Iwuozor confessed that she went into begging because she wanted to raise transport fare that will enable her to take the child to Imo State. The Nigerian police have already invited the boy’s parents to come to the station and claim the boy.
