The Global Peace Index rankings showing the rank of Ghana in West Africa, Africa and across the globe has undoubtedly caused massive stir and has also generated lots of arguments and debates among Ghanaians on social media. Ghana is best known by everyone around the world for its tranquility, immense hospitality shown by citizens and democratic nature. Hence, it does not come as a surprise that Ghana is being ranked as the most peaceful country in West Africa. According to the 2021 Global Peace Index produced by the Institute of Economics and Peace (IEP), Ghana also ranks as the 2nd most peaceful country in Africa (1st is Mauritius) and 38th most peaceful country in the world.
President Akufo-Addo posted this huge recognition on his Facebook page and the post has generated a lot of reactions from Ghanaians. The President called on Ghanaians to help maintain the peace in the country. Some section of Ghanaians believe that the country has always been peaceful even prior to the President Akufo-Addo’s rule.
