Deputy president William Ruto, the leader of the United Democratic Alliance party, has been dealt a blow just days after Kirinyaga women representative Purity Ngirici exited the Hustlers nation.
Today Wednesday 5th January 2022, a popular mount Kenya politician has quit Ruto’s camp, former Igembe North member of parliament Hon. Joseph M’Eruaki officially ditched UDA, the party deputy president William Ruto will be using to vie for the presidency.
He announced that he will be making an attempt to reclaim the Igembe North seat on The service party belonging to former Agriculture cabinet secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri. Hon. M’Eruaki was officially recieved into the party by its leader Mwangi Kiunjuri himself.
This is a huge blow to deputy president William Ruto who is keen on keeping the support of the Mount Kenya region which he is heavily banking on to boost his presidential bid in the forthcoming general elections.
The continuous exit from UDA is out of fear by politicians that there will be free and fair nominations in the party, most of the politicians ditching UDA believe that some politicians will be favoured or rather will be given direct tickets over their loyalty to deputy president William Ruto.
The battle for Mount Kenya seats will be between UDA and other small parties which have got their origin from the Mount Kenya region, they include Gatundu South constituency member of parliament Moses Kuria’s Chama Cha Kazi, TSP, Narc-Kenya led by Martha Karua, Tujibebebe Wakenya party led by former Kiambu county governor Wiliam Kabogo, PNU among others.
UDA has already indicated that they will be fielding candidates in all the elective positions in all parts of the country areas perceived as strongholds of other parties that will decide to support deputy president William Ruto’s presidential bid
