In the new year (2022), about five (5) prominent Nigerians have lost their lives. Two among them are kings, two are politicians while one is a popular music artist.
1. The death of two (2) Prominent Kings:
King Saliu Adetunji was pronounced dead at the age of 93. After the pronouncement, he was laid to rest at his palace in Ibadan, Oyo state while King David Olajide Omisore died at the age of 90. While breathing, he held the title. “Olu of Ayepe-olode”. The late monarch is the father of Senator Iyiola Omisore, a former Deputy-Governor of Osun State.
2. The death of two (2) prominent Politicians:
Bashir Tofa was known by a good percent of Nigerians to be the strong opponent of Moshood Abiola in the controversial June 12, 1993, election. At 74, he died and has been buried according to the muslim rites.
Regarding Colonel Anthony Uzoma Obi, he served Nigeria long ago as a two time military Administrator and Governor of Osun state. His death was pronounced this year by his family members.
3. The death of a popular Music Artist:
Slim Joe, whose real name is Joshua Olonitan, died over 24 hours ago. This recording artist was famous for hits like “O ti yanyan” and the rest. He died after some weeks of battles with kidney failure.
