MTN Ghana identifies with Ghana’s Heritage

Accra, Oct. 22, GNA – MTN Ghana identifies with Ghana’s culture and will continue to invest and promote the country’s cultural heritage, Mr Eric Nsarkoh, a Sales and Distribution Executive at MTN Ghana, has said.

He said as an African Multinational Company, the telecommunication giant had demonstrated its commitment to the preservation of Ghana’s heritage by supporting the celebration of over 30 traditional festivals annually.
He said during these festivals, Ghana’s heritage was showcased to the admiration of both local and foreigners.
Mr Nsarkoh made the remarks at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MTN Ghana and the National Folklore Board.

The MoU serve as the framework to guide the collaboration and operations of the two institutions.

MTN Ghana is taking steps to preserve and showcase Ghana’s cultural heritage using Mobile technology such as the Heritage App.
One of the core responsibilities of the Heritage App is to promote the App using all MTN channels and plans are advance to host the App on the Ayoba platform which is accessible in MTN operating countries in Africa and the Middle East.
The Heritage App is currently on the Play Store App Store for download to learn more about the cultural Heritage of Ghana.
He said MTN Ghana as a leader in the telecom space in Ghana thought of going beyond the celebration of festivals as a means to help preserve the country’s culture and commissioned the development of a Mobile Application known as the ‘Heritage App’ to showcase information on Ghana and its cultural heritage.
Nana Adjoa Adobea Asante, Director, National Folklore Board, said digitizing Ghana’s cultural heritage was long overdue and a step in the right direction.

She said the collaboration sought to bring Ghana’s folklore to the doorstep of the citizens and other nationals in Africa, Middle East and the world at large.
