Thieves Break Into Dutch Museum And Steal £5m Van Gogh Painting Amid Coronavirus Outbreak

Museum director, Jan Rudolph de Lorm has been left in a state of shock after learning of the £5m Van Gogh painting, stolen from the museum after closing down due to coronavirus.

The musuem stopped operations on 2nd March 2020 after the government ordered a shut down of all companies and a total lockdown of the country to help stop further spread of the deadly coronavirus. The police reports that it was a “smash-and-grab” operation by the thieves since there were glasses shattered on the floor

The museum’s director, Jan Rudolph de Lorm, who spoke on a YouTube confrence broadcast expressed his dissatisfaction and how pissed he is, learning about the stolen £5m painting which was on loan from another museum in Groningen.

He said;

“This is exactly what you don’t want as a museum that has a painting on loan.

“A beautiful and moving painting by one of our greatest painters, stolen from the community … This must come back as soon as possible, so that we can enjoy and be comforted by this beautiful art again. Art deserves to be seen and shared by us, the community.”
