Ladies clubs receive GH10,000 participating fee

The sixteen clubs participating in this year’s Ghana Womens League 2019/2020 Season are smiling to the bank having received a ¢10,000 participation fee from the Ghana Football Association(GFA), as the league commences this weekend.

The clubs involve are Police Ladies, Lady Strikers, Hasaacas Ladies FC, Samaria Ladies, Immigration Ladies,Soccer Intellectuals , Sea Lions FC and Halifax Ladies in the Southern Zone while the Northern Zone is made up of Ampem Darkoa, Ashtown Ladies, Fabulous Ladies Pearl Pia Ladies, Northern Ladies , Kumasi Sports Academy, Supreme Ladies and Prisons Ladies.

This GFA gesture to the Ladies Clubs has boosted the efforts of the teams as they work hard to exhibit the skills imbibe in them by their head coaches, as they contend for laurels in the Ladies Championship.

Speaking to the Graphic Sports online on today, the chairperson of the Women League Committee, Mrs Hillary Boateng, said FA had been of immense support to the ladies’ teams with money that would cushion the clubs financially.

The chairperson also noted that ‘‘the 30 balls and bibs offered the clubs will reduce some financial stress on the clubs, so that the money meant for balls and bibs will be used for other important things within the clubs’’.

According to Mrs Boateng, Electroland Ghana Limited, marketers of Nasco products, have partnered the Women League Committee to award the best player of the month with a Phone, Hair-dryer and a 32-inch Television set, while the best coach of the month takes home a Phone and Television set ’’, she stated.

“The chairperson brings on board her experience from the corporate world with the passion to help the Ladies games grow and has promised to bring her technical know-how to transform the sports, she stated.

“As the Women League starts this weekend, it is my expectations to see more people watch the Ladies Championship devoid of violence as the league progresses’’, Mrs Boateng said.

She also called for fair officiating by referees to keep the standard of the game high.
