Butcher jailed for robbery | Ghana News Agency (GNA)

Ashaiman, Nov.18,
GNA – A twenty year old butcher, Nuhu Kabayah have been slapped with a 12 year
jailed term for assault and robbery at Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region.

The complainant, 36
year-old Mrs. Grace Addo, a trader, told the court through the prosecuting
officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dorothy Boadu Peprah that, on
the November 5, 2019, at about 0350 hours, whilst on her way to Ashaiman
roundabout to board a vehicle to embark on a journey, when the accused pounced
on her and ordered her to surrender all her valuables.

According to the
complainant, the accused beat her up and succeeded in taking her handbag which
contained a Samsung Galaxy phone valued at GHC380.00, Voter ID Card and other
personal belongings.

The Prosecution said
the victim proceeded to the Tulaku Police station to make an official complaint
of which she was given a medical report form for her to seek medical treatment.

ASP Peprah said the
police followed up to the crime scene and saw an accomplice of the accused fast
asleep.

According to ASP
Boadu, the accomplice who gave his name as Lucky Kamasah said he slept after
smoking wee and did not know that his friend had left to commit a crime.

He later led the
police to arrest the accused from his hideout.

Mr. Gabriel
Mate-Teye Presiding Judge after trial convicted the accused and sentenced him
accordingly.
