The solar-powered e-kiosk project is being piloted by the NLA with support from the private sector.

“The Association of Lotto Marketing Companies (ALMC) which constitute the direct sales force and main backbone of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) has petitioned President Akufo-Addo, Vice-President Dr. Bawumia, the Ministry of Finance, the Board Chairman and Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) to assist members of the Association with a Stimulus Package to enable them acquire the laudable solar-powered e-kiosk project introduced by the National Lottery Authority in Partnership with the Private Sector,” the NLA said in a statement.

“The National Lottery Authority (NLA) in partnership with the Private Sector is seeking to modernize the operations and management of the Lottery Industry through the replacement of the wooden lotto Kiosks and the metal containers with modernized Solar-powered e-kiosks. The wooden lotto Kiosks and metal containers are not business friendly, and unable to reduce lottery stigmatization, thereby reducing sales and revenue generation.”
The NLA also complained that the current state of some of the kiosks in which lottery agents operate in has subjected agents to stigmatization and public ridicule.
The solar-powered e-kiosks are to be equipped with facilities such as solar panels, V-Sat Internet-Connectivity, Money Safes, ceiling fans, and Android Point of Sale Terminals.
In addition to the business of lottery, the solar-powered e-kiosks will be used to provide value added services such as mobile money inter-operability transactions, banking, remittances and collection of taxes for the Ghana Revenue Authority, in addition to the payments of utility Tariffs.
The NLA argues that the e-kiosk project is designed to create over 30,000 new jobs for the youth of this country adding that the project falls in line with Government’s digitization efforts.
The NLA petition to the Presidency was signed by the General Secretary of the Lotto Marketing Companies, Mr. Kofi Frimpong.
