Accra, Dec. 17, GNA – Dr. Kwame
Bawuah-Edusei, a former Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States (US), has advised
the youth in his latest book launched in Accra not to allow failure to hinder
the fulfilment of their dreams in life.
“You can be successful, no matter the
challenges. Therefore, persevere, set high goals in life, maintain high
self-esteem and work harder for successes,” he said.
He urged the Ghanaian youth to also uphold
discipline, integrity and honesty, which he described as necessities for a
decent living.
Mr Bawuah-Edusei was speaking at the launch
of his book entitled: “Thrived – Despite the Odds,” at the Christ the
King Parish in Accra.
The book, which bothers on his
autobiography, contains 13 chapters and has Educe Publishing Company, Florida
in US, as its publisher.
The book has more than 200 pages
encompassing the former Ambassador’s life as a medical practitioner,
entrepreneur, diplomat and philanthropist.
It also gives a background of his family
life and his commitment to continuing his family tradition of philanthropism,
integrity and economic development.
Prior to serving as Ghana’s ambassador to
the United States from 2006 to 2009, Dr. Bawuah-Edusei served as Ghana’s
Ambassador to Switzerland and Austria as well as Permanent Representative to
the United Nations and other international organisations in Geneva and Vienna.
Throughout his stay in the US from the
mid-1980s, Dr. Bawuah-Edusei has been a community leader.
He was, and remains, a resilient advocate of
Ghana and travelled all over the country to help improve US/Ghana relations
through business promotion.
“Writing this autobiography was my
toughest, yet fulfilling,” Dr. Bawuah-Edusei noted, stressing that the
book sharing his life experiences sought to inspire the youth to aspire for
greatness in their life endeavours.
“If you take high risk, it comes with a
high reward,” he said, and encouraged young people to learn useful lessons
from life experiences of the nation’s trailblazers.
Reverend Dr. Kwabena Darko, an entrepreneur
and Minister of the Gospel, lauded the former Ambassador for his patriotism.
Mr. Joe Osei-Wusu, the First Deputy Speaker
of Parliament and Member of Parliament (MP) for Bekwai, said the youth ought to
show keen interest in the country’s development agenda.
Present at the ceremony were traditional
authorities, politicians, entrepreneurs, youth groups, the academia and a
cross-section of the public.
