Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital provides specialist Psychiatric services
Nurses and physician assistants at the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital in the Central Region have laid down their tools, demanding that their director be removed from post with immediate effect.
Dr Eugene Dordoye, is being accused by his subordinates of being unequipped with good human relation skills and that has put their lives in danger.
“Dr. Eugene Dordoye’s presence in the hospital is a psychological stress to us. So we are notifying our immediate supervisor, who is the Health Authority CEO to take action. The nurses are not coming back to work until the hospital’s director is removed,” Emmanuel Ofori, spokesperson of the Ankaful Psychiatric nurse’s group told CITI news.
They are also unhappy with the Health Ministry for failing to dismiss him for allegedly being abusive.
Several attempts by the Health Ministry to get the workers to back down on their demand after numerous petitions have failed.
In November 2017, the health workers rejected an apology from the Dr. Dordoye after they laid down their tools demanding his removal.
Dr. Dordoye in 2017, claimed in a letter that his disciplinary measures appeared not to have gone down well with the workers some of whom decided to strike.
However, the workers want the Director be taken out and given the necessary training to equip him with people skills so he can man them better.
This the workers say will “save them from the physical, emotional and mental torture he has been subjecting them to”.
The workers in a letter to the Health Ministry say they will, however, resume duty as soon as the director is removed.
Joy News’ Central Regional correspondent, Richard Kwadwo Nyarko, told Daniel Dadzie on News Desk on Joy News TV, the workers have refused to carry out their duties until the director is removed.
