Ghanaian guitarist joins Grammy winners after playing on Ed Sheeran’s album

Moments after the Recording Academy announced ‘Divide’ by Ed Sheeran as the Pop Album of the Year at the 60th Grammy Awards, messages of felicitations poured in from all across the world for two Ghanaians who had contributed to the production of the album.

Fuse ODG co-wrote the popular song ‘Bebia Beyeyie’ on the album while Killbeatz produced the song.

However, a third Ghanaian who contributed immensely to the production of the same song seems not to have been given any attention at all.

Stephen OT Woode, a Ghanaian guitarist based in Tema delivered the string instrumentation on ‘Bebia Be Ye Yie’.

Listening to the song, OT Woode’s guitar instrumentation dominated a greater part of the tune.

In spite of this feat, it is quite surprising that the young instrumentalist has been less celebrated for the new milestone in Ghana’s music industry.

Apart from the Recording Academy’s award which acknowledges him as a contributor to the Pop Album of the Year, not many Ghanaians have congratulated him like they did for Fuse ODG and Killbeatz.

In a bid to celebrate the young Ghanaian talent, Joy FM’s Naa Ashakor hosted Stephen OT Woode on the station’s entertainment analysis program, Showbiz A-Z.

The instrumentalist confessed that he experienced an exciting change in his life after winning the Grammy Award with Ed-Sheeran, Fuse ODG and Killbeatz.

“My life has changed…Opportunities come but once, so you have to grab them,” he said.

On his low popularity, OT Woode, who is known among his colleagues as OT Wood, said: “he is working around the clock to get himself out there.”

He also made known his initial reaction when he realised he had grabbed the prestigious Grammy Award.

“I was sleeping while the event was happening in New York…In the morning I had calls…I checked online and I realized it was true…I lost my voice. I was screaming!’

OT Wood has worked with music heavyweights such as Daddy Lumba and Manifest and has also performed on several platforms.
