Senior special assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari, Garba Shehu has come under severe criticisms over a statement he made, while appearing as a guest on Channels TV, on Monday.
Garba, while reacting to a question by his host, on number of job loss in the country, said the federal government has create over 12 millions jobs which were undocumented by the National Bureau of Statistics.
Mr Shehu said the Statistician General of the Federation, Yemi Kale, told them during a Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting that the agency, only focuses on collating data for white collars jobs and does not collate data for sectors like agriculture.
This was quickly refuted by Mr Kale, saying there was never a time, he had such a conversation with FEC or anyone for that matter.
Speaking via Twitter on Monday, Mr Kale said the agency takes account of all sectors, age group both rural and urban.
He wrote;
Assuming what U claim was said was actually said then I make it very clear that Neither the statistician general nor NBS ever made any such admission at anytime to anybody and the unemployment computations does take into account all sectors, age groups &both rural & urban areas.
