Ghana’s High Commissioner to Kenya, Francisca Ashitey-Odunton, has challenged Kumasi Asante Kotoko to avoid repeating the Black Stars defeat to Kenya when they play the Kariobangi Sharks in the Confederation Cup on Saturday.

She has urged the Porcupine Warriors not to allow the Kenyans defeat Ghana for the second time within a year and tasked them to avenge the Harambee Stars 1-0 defeat to the Black Stars during the 2019 AFCON qualifiers in September.

“The last time a Ghanaian team played here we lost the game, that was the Ghana Black Stars, this is the second Ghana team in a year so I am here to demand revenge for Ghana”, Madam Ashitey-Oduton said to a loud applause from the team.

The High Commissioner who visited the team on Thursday assured them that her outfit would rally support for them on Saturday and added that the High Commission was here for them “so you should feel at home even though you are playing away from home”.

I know we are all here to win, on Saturday I can assure you we will be there to support you and I know we will go home with a victory” the former Deputy Director of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation said.

She also assured the team of finding solutions to some of the challenges they are facing but urged them not to allow those challenges to distract them instead look beyond them to ensure they deliver victory.

Coach C.K Akonnor was grateful to the High Commissioner for her words of encouragement but said they have prepared very well for the game while assuring Madam Ashitey-Odunton that the team would do their best to make Ghana proud.
