Teaser trailer for the ‘Lion King’ reboot will give you goosebumps

The first trailer for Disney’s ‘live-action’ remake of the Lion King has just dropped and already has close to eight million views.

Directed by Jon Favreau (who previously remade The Jungle Book), the much-hyped reboot is slated for release in July 2019. The original, released in 1994, went on to become one of the highest-grossing animated films of all time.

The trailer opens with a voice over from James Earl Jones, who returns to play Mufasa, saying: “Everything the light touches is our kingdom, but a king’s time as ruler rises and falls like the sun. One day the sun will set on my time here, and will rise with you as the new king.”

As the melodic Zulu chant that opens the song The Circle of Life kicks in, Rafiki presents baby Simba to the animals of the Pride Lands — just as in the animated original. You’re sure to get goosebumps as a sense of nostalgia washes over you.
