MTN Ghana holds stakeholders forum with journalists

Tamale, Oct. 8, GNA – MTN Ghana has organized
a day’s stakeholders’ engagement forum with journalists within the Tamale
Metropolis to share an overview of the company’s business performance in the
Region.

The day’s forum was to create a platform for
information sharing, giving an overview of the company’s business performance
of the previous year, how MTN intends to enhance its services as well as the
improved customer services available to make MTN the preferred network
provider.

Mr Sam Koranteng, Corporate Services Executive
of MTN Ghana claimed that the company had become the most preferred network
provider among the Ghanaian society as a result of the improved range of the
quality services provided to meet customer demands.

He said MTN had partnered the Ghana Investment
Fund for Electronic Communication (GIFEC) to provide mobile telephony services
for the underserved and un-served communities in Ghana to enjoy the full
benefits of mobile telephony services and digital technology.

Mr Koranteng said MTN Ghana was contributing
its quota to the development of the country and had generated a total of GH¢1.059
billion directly to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) through taxation to
improve the country’s economic growth.

He said as part of the company’s corporate
social responsibility, MTN has awarded 100 scholarships to brilliant but needy
students in tertiary institutions within the country.

He said the scholarships cover students’
accommodation; tuition fees as well as GH¢500 to enable them buy books and
other learning materials in every semester to provide the less privileged
access to education.

Mr Nii Adotey Mingle, MTN General Manager,
Northern Sector, said as part of the upgrade of the company’s technology, MTN
Ghana has digitized the economy to improve the business’ performance in the
Region with regard to the payment of services.

He added that MTN Ghana has played significant
effort in the area of health, education, as well as economic empowerment as
part of its corporate social responsibility.

Mr Mingle urged the general public to be wary
of fraudsters who would ask them to send them their Mobile Money Pin Code,
saying “MTN would never ask anyone for those information and that MTN would
call customers with 0244300000”.
