Kumasi, Oct. 3, GNA – The Ghana Health Service
(GHS) will on Thursday October 4, begin the registration of households for the
free distribution of Long Lasting Insecticide Treated Nets (LLITN) across the
country.

The distribution of the LLITN will be done in
partnership with the Ghana Malaria Control Programme as part of efforts to
reduce the incidence of malaria in communities.

Dr Emmanuel Tinkorang, Ashanti Regional
Director of Health Services, who announced this in Kumasi, said each household
would be provided with a unique identification code cards, which would be used
to collect the treated nets.

He said the seven-day registration exercise
would help health authorities receive detailed information of each member of
the household to aid the smooth distribution of the treated nets.

Dr Tinkorang said households which refuse to
register would not be given any of the treated nets and urged residents in the
region to endeavour to register with officials who would come to their homes
with identification tags, to enable them receive free treated nets to prevent
