Accra, Sept. 23, GNA –
Ghana’s Tennis sensation, Tracy Ampah, toppled her South African counterpart,
Erne Kotze, in two tough sets of 7-5,6-3 to emerge winner of the Gauteng North
Junior Open Tourney, in Pretoria, South Africa.

This was after she had
surpassed various hurdles in the qualifying stages, before an entertaining
finals, which saw an exhibition of thunderous serves, volleys and superb court
coverage from two of the most outstanding juniors.

Last Sunday’s
encounter was indeed a stern challenge for the young Ghanaian, but she
eventually battled her way to win the second set, after winning the first set
at 7-5 and crowned the ultimate champion.

Ampah, a pupil of Umat
Basic School and plays at Tarkwa Tennis Club, in an interview expressed her
delight after emerging victor in the keen competition.

“I never thought
I would achieve this. It’s just great that I made it possible for myself and
won these matches against good players.

“It was such a
great experience playing on that court. Many juniors who didn’t know me and
they congratulated me, so it’s nice,” she said.
