Madam Elizabeth Sackey to chair Gt. Accra venue LOC

Accra, Sept. 20 GNA – Madam Elizabeth Sackey,
has would chair an eleven member Venue Organizing Committee (VOC), for Accra,
for the Local Organizing Committee (LOC).

The Venue LOC would plan, manage and monitor,
all activities related to the upcoming 11th African Cup (AWCON).

The VOC for the AWCON, which was inaugurated
on Thursday, would among other things ensure that Accra, one of the host cities
for the tournament, has all training pitches, stadium and other necessary
arrangements completed ahead of the competition.

She would be assisted by Madam Sophia Kokor,
as vice chairperson, with Chief Supt. Kwesi Ofori, Dr. Prince David Pambo,
Portia Tagoe, Grace Acheampong, Ivy Asamoah, Prince Obeng, Emmanuel Clottey,
Ben William Graham and Vivian Dougblor as members.

Madam Freda Prempeh, Chairperson for the LOC,
who noted of her outmost trust in the VOC members, said Ghana would gain a lot
from organizing a successful tournament.

“The tournament would open a lot of avenues to
our tourism industry, economic empowerment and cultural heritage, we as
Ghanaians should contribute our quota for a successful competition”.

Madam Lucy Quist, Vice President for Ghana’s
Normalization Committee thanked the LOC for a good job done since their
inauguration.

She commended them for exhibiting commitment,
willingness and dedication throughout their work.

According to her football has grown from just
being a game to a commercial activity, which Ghana must make the most out of.

“Football has extremely developed and it is
time Ghana leverage on it to drive the nation forward, we have the capable
hands and minds and it was time we made the outside world see what Ghana is
made off”.

Meanwhile the Black Queens of Ghana are on a
nationwide training tour to fine tune for have a successful host and win
tournament.
