The senior national women’s team, Black Queens, on Friday defeated a select side from Kumasi 2-0 in a friendly played at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Two goals by Grace Asantewaa and Gladys Amfobea handed the Queens a victory in a game organised as part of the national team’s preparations for the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) tournament to be hosted by Ghana from November 17 to December 1.

Before meeting the Kumasi select side, the Queens began their regional tour with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Kumasi Sports Academy on Thursday at the same venue.

Gladys Amfobea scored a hat-trick before Diana Weige added a goal to seal the victory.

Meanwhile, the General Manager of Tabea Industries, Mrs Clara Agyemang has donated some products to the team after their 4-0 victory over Kumasi Sports Academy.

The team arrived in Kumasi on Wednesday to begin a nationwide tour to keep the players in shape for the continental tournament which they hope to win for the first time.

The Queens’ next stop is the Brong Ahafo Region where they will take on champions of the National Women’s League, Ampem Darkoa Ladies at the Ohene Ameyaw Park in Techiman.
