Accra, Aug. 17, GNA – An Accra Circuit Court
on Thursday sentenced William Kwasi Okyere a driver to 12 years imprisonment
for having sex with a 14-year-old girl at Teshie in Accra.
Okyere had pleaded not guilty to the charge of
defilement, but the trial Judge, Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku however found him
guilty at the end of the trial and sentenced him accordingly.

Accra, Aug. 17, GNA – An Accra Circuit Court
on Thursday sentenced William Kwasi Okyere a driver to 12 years imprisonment
for having sex with a 14-year-old girl at Teshie in Accra.
Okyere had pleaded not guilty to the charge of
defilement, but the trial Judge, Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku however found him
guilty at the end of the trial and sentenced him accordingly.
This was after Prosecution had called
witnesses to make their case.
Prosecuting Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbire said
the victim’s mother who was the complainant in the matter resides at
Teshie.
Okyere who is a friend to the complainant also
reside in the same vicinity.
Prosecution said on March 19, last year, in
the absence of the complainant, the convict went to her (Complainant’s) house
and asked the victim to prepare porridge for him.
Prosecution said the victim obliged; and after
convict had finished consuming the porridge, he dragged the victim from the
complainant’s kitchen to the hall and had sex with her.
After the act, prosecution said the victim
informed the complainant and a report was made at the Police Station where a
medical form was issued to the victim to seek medical attention.
Prosecution said when the medical report was
submitted Okyere was arrested.
