Fiapre (B/A), Aug. 10, GNA – The Fiapre
Traditional Council (FTC) in the Sunyani West District of Brong-Ahafo Region
has threatened  to sue the Awuah-Domase Traditional
Council for describing the Chief and Queen of Fiapre as the Kurontirehene and
Kurontirehemaa of Awua-Domase.

The Council has therefore issued a threat of
Court action to place injunction on the burial and ‘Doteyie’ of Nana Kwame
Korang VI, the late Paramount Chief of Awua-Domase.

According to the FTC, the description of
Obrempong Professor Kyem Amponsah II and Susubribi Ama Saah II, the Chief and
Queen of Fiapre respectively, in the burial and Doteyie invitation brochure of
Nana Korang VI as the Kurontirehene and Kurontirehemaa are below their status’
and thus, out of order.

Nana Korang died on the Tuesday July11, 2017
and his burial and Doteyie is slated for Monday August 27 to Monday, September
3, 2018 at Awua-Domase in the Sunyani West-District.

The Doteyie literally among the ‘Akan’ tribal
and ethnic groups in Ghana is the pre-burial funeral and burial of a death
traditional ruler, which could take a number of days but mostly not exceeding a
week, depending on the status of stool of the late chief or queen.

Addressing a press conference at Fiapre,
Obrempong Prof. Amponsah II, ordered that his name and that of his Queen must
be removed from the Doteyie invitation brochure as being part of the chief
mourners within 24 hours.

He added that the funeral invitation brochures
that have been served already should be withdrawn and posters be removed to
avoid Court action against the Awua-Domase Traditional Council.

The Press conference was attended by the
members of the Fiapre Traditional Council, opinion leaders and the general
public.

Obrempong Prof. Amponsah II stressed that
Fiapre was an independent domain traditionally, because it did not owe
allegiance to any superior traditional authority and therefore, its Chief did
not swear oath of allegiance to any other Chief.

He explained that in March 2014, the FTC wrote
to the Brong-Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs (BARHC) to enquire about the status
of the traditional area.

Following that enquiry, a letter by the BARHC
in response, dated April 9, 2014 and received by the late Chief of Fiapre, Nana
Opoku Ababio II stated categorically that the Fiapre Traditional area was not
under any Traditional Authority.
