Agona Swedru (C/R), Aug. 9, GNA – The
Western Presbytery of the Young People’s Guild (YPG) of the Presbyterian Church
of Ghana, has celebrated its 30th Anniversary with a youth convention organized
to give thanks to God.

The four-day convention which took
place at the Enchi College of Education under the theme; “Celebrating Christ;
our focus for the mission”, saw the gathering of members of the guild, drawn
from the various districts within the Presbytery.

Reverend Joshua Asare, the Enchi
District Minister on behalf of the Western Presbytery Chairperson, in sermon
charged the youth to glorify God and also to realise the need to empower
themselves through prayer and fasting.

He said glorifying God was a means to
destroy the works of the enemy according to the Bible.

He admonished the youth to be good
examples to the world by living lives that glorified God and attracted others
to his kingdom.

Other men of God took turns to preach
to the congregation about the need to focus on winning souls for Christ.

The celebration also brought together
members of the clergy from the Presbyterian Church and representatives of other
Churches as well as dignitaries from local banks and institutions in the area.

The Western Presbytery YPG was
established in 1988 as the Regional arm of the parent YPG body covering some
areas in the Central and Western Regions.

Its aim is to bring together the
youth of the Presbyterian Church in the area and make them ambassadors of
Christ Jesus.
