Gunman will not be charged for killing father of three during fight over handicapped parking space

A mother who wanted quick and easy access to a convenient store lost her boyfriend over her decision to park in a handicapped parking spot.

The woman is furious that she will not get justice as police ruled the case as self-defense and the shooter was freed under Florida’s Stand Your Ground law.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s office released the video of the incident, which shows 47-year-old Michael Drejka confronting
Britany Jacobs, 24, for illegally parking in the handicapped spot.

Jacobs, who was with her boyfriend’s 5-year-old son, their 4-month-old and a 3-year-old in the car, claimed that she did nothing wrong.

During the argument, the woman’s boyfriend, 28-year-old Markeis McGlockton, came out of the store and witnessed the argument.

McGlockton, who is black, walked over to Drejka, who is white, and used both hands to forcefully push Drejka to the ground.

After he fell, Drejka pulled out his gun and shot McGlockton.
He was seen in the video clutching his stomach as he ran back into the store for help.

McGlockton was rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said in a press conference that the shooting is “within the bookends of stand your ground and within the bookends of force is justified.

“No matter how you slice it or dice it that was a violent push to the ground,” Gualtieri explained.

“I’m not saying I agree with it, but I don’t make that call, its the law,” he added.

He added that his agency will now forward the case to the State Attorney’s Office for the final decision about charges being filed.

McGlockton’s family said that they will hire their own attorney to look into this case in order to get justice for their son.
