Ghana Police Command and Staff College commemorates 2017 WASSA

Winneba (C/R) June 25, GNA – Deputy
Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Charles Torkor, Commandant of Ghana Police
Command and Staff College Winneba, has called on personnel in the college to be
familiar with their code of ethics, principles and procedures of the service.

He said to make the service simple, they were
required to move away from the old order and improve their intelligence in
fighting crime, especially by reading books pertaining to their work.

DCOP Mr Torkor made the call while addressing
the staff of the college at a ceremony to commemorate their 2017 WASSA held at
the college in Winneba.

The Day was used to socialise, take stock of
the prevous year and to strategise to forge ahead.

DCOP Mr Torkor urged them to respect the law
and the society by continuing to exhibit a high degree of professionalism,
discipline and judicious use of discretion in all dealings with members of the
public.

He said over 10 Junior and Six Senior Command
and Criminal Officers Courses had been held at the college, with over 600
Senior Police Officers having been trained since its establishment four years
ago.

He appealed to the Inspector General of Police
and the police administration to lobby for funds to improve on the existing
infrastructure and to complete the on-going project to reach international
standards.

Some Personnel in the Administration, General
Duties, Band, Drill and Kitchen departments who excelled during the year under
review received certificates for their hard work, commitment and dedication to
duty at college.

He congratulated all the personnel of the
college especially the award winners and expressed the hope that they would put
aside all the negative setbacks, socialise with themselves and discharge their
duties according to the objectives of the college.
