NDC MPs angry over delay in determining fate of Gitmo 2 detainees

The Minority National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament (MP) are not happy with delay by the government in determining the fate of the two ex-Guantanamo Bay detainees currently residing in the country.

They have in effect accused the government of constitutional breaches and disrespect of the Supreme Court over failure to communicate the decision on two ex-detainees

President Akufo-Addo during the media encounter last week assured the fate of the duo will be determined and communicated to Parliament as soon as the House reconvenes.

But the issue was captures on the agenda of Parliament for consideration this week

The Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu, worried over the issue drew the Speaker’s attention to it on the floor, Tuesday, demanding immediate action from government.

Buy the Minister for Monitoring and Evaluation, Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei in a reaction revealed that the government does not have to resubmit the agreement to Parliament.

The Old Tafo lawmaker argued the State only needs to issue visas to the duo to continue living in the country.
