The impact of the collision was so strong that both buses ended up in a ditch
Nine people died when a Yutong bus with registration number GC 5148 Z, traveling from Tamale to Kumasi, collided with a Kia mini bus registered GT 5892 – 16.
The accident, which happened at Yapei, left 30 other passengers with various degrees of injury, and are currently receiving treatment at the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
The Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Yussif Tanko, confirmed the incident to DAILY GUIDE..
He said the impact of the collision was so strong that both buses ended up in a ditch.
He added that the nine persons died instantly and their bodies had since been deposited at the Tamale Teaching Hospital awaiting autopsy and identification by family members.
Meanwhile, the buses have been towed to the Yapei police station to make way for motorists to ply the road.
