May OAffail Monney, President GJA

Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) president Affail Monney, is whishing his colleagues in the inky traternity the best of the season and in the New Year.

In a social media season’s greetings post on behalf of the association, Affail Monney says “May the peace and joy of the holidays be with you today and throughout the New Year. God bless our Homeland Ghana.”

Also on the journalistic front, the association has demanded of the New Patriotic Party to bring to book its security operatives said to have assaulted a number of journalists at the party’s headquarters while covering a protest by NPP supporters.

The journalists from TV3, Ghanaweb and Citi FM were set upon by the party forces and “beaten to pulp” according to the GJA, while engaged in lawful duties last Thursday, December 21.

The GJA recalled many instances of such attacks on journalists in what it says is “a growing culture of impunity” and demanded that those responsible be brought to book, while party leaders whip their followers in line with the present democratic dispensation.
