Some supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from Ellembelle in the Western Region, on Thursday thronged the party’s headquarters at Asylum Down in Accra to demand the original polling station register.
The protesters were mainly polling station executives, and others who protested against their party chairman, Samuel Akenya who they say has denied them access to the original copies of the register ahead of the constituency elections in Ellembelle.
According to the angry protesters, all efforts to get the original registers to the 16 polling station officers have proven futile, hence their decision to bus themselves to the capital to demonstrate.
The Ellembelle polling station executives who invaded the NPP headquarters told the media this was a ploy to manipulate the election of party executives at the constituency level, through to the national level.
They’re billed to present a petition to the national executives as part of their protest.
