Kotoko Fans AngrySupporters of Asante Kotoko

After the Management of Asante Kotoko announced the appointment of former WAFA coach, Akakpo Patron as their new Assistant Coach, FootballMadeInGhana.com’s Wadudu Abdul Osman was on the streets of Kumasi to find out from some fans what they make of the appointment. Below are excerpts of the interview.

Sasu Danquah, Circles member – It’s a good decision to bring on board a former player and WAFA assistant coach, Akakpo Patron. His rich experience will be helpful for us. As a former player of Kotoko and coach of WAFA, he understands our local football. I believe he will add something to our team.

Mohammed Alhassan, Kumasi Technical University – I think if he is given the maximum support, he will be of massive help to us on the local and international scenes especially in a year that we are playing in Africa. We shouldn’t put any pressure on him. I think putting pressure on him will have repercussions on his work. Let’s give him ample to settle and work. He should help us with the management of our youth team.

Baba Alhassan, PRO, Circles 37 – I don’t know much about him but I heard he is from WAFA, I hope he will bring the experience he gained at WAFA TO Kotoko because we need people with godo experience to help us lift the club to a greater height. I’m happy we have an assistant coach now.

Eric Yeboah, Shoemaker, Kejetia – He is a good coach from what I have heard. I hope he will be able to understand and work hand in hand with Coach Steven Polack. I hope he will work on the youth team, so that in future, we can count on the youth players now. I have been happy since hearing the news. He’s welcomed to Kotoko – the biggest football club in the country.
