About thirty-six thousand indigenes are expected to be engaged in employment for the re-development of the Marine Drive Tourism Project in Accra.

According to the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Catherine Afeku, as part of the agreement with the project managers, the recruitment for jobs will be heavily concentrated on local lucent participation.

She made the disclosure in an interview with JoyBusiness after a short ceremony to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Project Financiers, in Accra.

The 1.5 million dollar marine drive tourism investment project is being facilitated by the government to develop the entire stretch of the land containing the marine drive into a world-class, beachfront tourism enclave.

This is aimed at meeting the needs of business and leisure tourists as well as making Ghana the preferred tourism destination in Africa.

Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Catherine Afeku explaining how the project intends to create employment for the youth noted, every significant part of the entire project is being handled by Ghanaians.

The project is anchored on the vision of changing the face of Tourism in Ghana. When completed it will feature hotels, a Cultural Village, Malls, and Recreational Centers among others. The first phase is expected to be completed within three years.

Kofi Bio Head of Project Management at Adjaye Associates, the Lead Consultant and Financier of the Project is optimistic that it is going to change the face of the city.
