Ghana have potential to dominate CAF awards – Maxwell Konadu

Sports News of Tuesday, 19 December 2017

Black Stars deputy head coach Maxwell Konadu is of the opinion that Ghana has fallen slightly off the pace as far as churning out top players on the continent is concerned but could put things right in the near future.

He expressed the concern following the conspicuous absence of a Ghanaian from the final list of nominees for the 2017 African Player of the year.

Sadio Mane of Senegal, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon and Mohammed Salah of Egypt who is odds on favorite to walk away with the award made the final CAF shortlist.

According to him, Ghana must now take the necessary steps to ensure that the conversation about the elite footballers on the continent will also include them.

“As we are we have to be sportsmen, It is quite disappointing but some years back we were dominating.

“Now that the pendulum has shifted we have to man up and bounce back come next year.

“We have a lot of youngsters that are currently doing really well, but like I said they are young so they have to make sure they put in the work to enable them gain nominations.

“I believe Ghana will soon bounce back,he revealed.
