The National Youth Organizer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku has indicated that the youth groups in the party have promised to change their character.
The various youth groups in the governing New Patriotic Party have been tagged as vigilante groups considering their character and the violence they have been involved in since the party took over the administration of the country.
But speaking to Gh One TV ahead of the extraordinary conference in the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, the National Youth Organizer indicated that the groups have promised to turn a new leaf.
According to him, “The youth who have been tagged as vigilante is helping us to prepare the place for the conference. I told them to either change their name or change their character and they said they have changed their character so the media will have a better perception of them”.
The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), is holding an extraordinary national delegates conference to consider various proposed amendments to the party’s Constitution.
The event which is been held in Kumasi is a follow up to the Annual National Delegates Conference at Cape Coast in August this year, at which various proposals were made for amendments to the party’s constitution.
Over 5,000 delegates including founding fathers and patrons of the party, Members of Parliament on the party’s ticket, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives, and national officers of the party, are expected at the conference.
