Local producers in various sectors of the economy will from henceforth enjoy direct access to foreign markets.
This is as a result of the new marketing online portal launched by the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA).
Known as the Exporters Portal, the online platform offers Ghanaian producers the opportunity to expose their goods and services to foreign markets, without having to undergo the traditional hurdles of clearance by various authorities.
The portal will provide real-time information on Ghanaian products sold by various local producers or traders registered with GEPA.
Commenting on the initiative – Chief Executive Officer of GEPA, Gifty Klenam, told the media that the move among other things is aimed at increasing Ghana’s annual export earnings via the centre from about Ghc4 billion recorded last year – 2016 to at least Ghc10 billion.
She noted that GEPA by re-branding itself through the online initiative is making itself, “visible to the exporters, buyers and sellers”.
Adding that “Ghana has a lot of products that are exportable. It is up to us as GEPA to identify those products [and] develop them for the export market”.
Meanwhile, the President Nana Akufo – Addo led government to has on many occasions reiterated its commitment to develop, promote local consumption and put the ‘made in Ghana’ products out there to compete favourably in the global market.
